2. How is a complaint filed?: Although a complaint may be filed any number of ways, the best way is to contact Internal Affairs and make an appointment. Once making an appointment, you will come to the Internal Affairs office located at 8691 Northwest Drive, the main police building, right in the front lobby.

3. How long does it take to file a complaint?: This is dependent upon the type of complaint. In order to properly investigate any complaint, Internal Affairs will interview you so that all the issues are clear and those issues can be properly addressed with the officer. You will also need to fill out some basic paperwork.

4. What do I need to bring to file a complaint?: You will need to bring your ID, preferably a driver's license, and any documentation that you may have that supports your complaint.

5. Does it matter that I was arrested at the time of my complaint?: No, it does not. However, if you are represented by an attorney, make sure that you have informed him that you are filing a complaint.

6. Can I have an attorney present during my interview with Internal Affairs?: No. Unless the individual is under age that Internal Affairs is interviewing, no other individuals are present during an interview. There are very rare instances when there are extenuating circumstances where a request may be made by the complainant to have an attorney present, but those instances are rare and usually involve criminal allegations.

7. How long does it take a case to be investigated?: Most cases are complete within 30 days. However, there are some type of cases that may not be resolved for longer periods of time.

8. Will I know what happened with my case?: Yes, you will be notified in writing as to the result of any complaint you file.

2. We have just moved into Southaven, how long do we have to replace our tags and driver’s license?: Under Mississippi State law, all residents have 30 days from the date they establish residency in the State to obtain new automobile tags and a new driver's license.

3. How do I make a Police Public Record Request?: Fill out the Public Records Request.
